Alex is the deputy spokesperson of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party. At the time of his arrest, he was running for Nakawa East parliamentary seat. On April 8, 2026, his wife passed on, he asked court to grant him bail or special permission to bury her, the court declined.
