Besigye’s health condition has continued to decline and he is in and out of hospital. On July 29, 2026 he collapsed in court, was taken to Intensive Care Unit at Mulago Hospital wherefrom he was – according to his wife, Winnie Byanyima – smuggled out of the hospital back to Mulago. He was readmitted at Murchison Bay where he continues to receive treatment.
