Halima Athumani is a digital and broadcast journalist based in Kampala, Uganda. A 2022 Pulitzer Finalist for Audio reporting with National Public Radio. For close to two decades she has reported on politics, elections, security, health, human rights, environment and social affairs for prominent media outlets like Voice of America, AL-Jazeera, The Washington Post, The National Geographic, BBC, and NPR. Halima hosts the podcast unpaid debt on the ongoing War Crimes Trial in Sweden and is pursuing a Master's in Human Rights at Makerere University. In Uganda, Halima Athumani worked for Uganda Radio Network a local News Agency and 93.3KFM reporting and anchoring Prime Time News.
